Some decisions look brave on the day you take them. The real test comes weeks later, when you have to live with them.

Gulbahar episode 11 and 12 show exactly that. Sara gave her husband permission to marry again and chose Diya as the second wife. Now the wedding is over, and Sara is sitting far away in Dubai, learning how much that decision costs.

In this review, we talk about Sara’s insecurity, Diya’s rights, Shehryar’s balancing act and what a “big heart” really means.

Gulbahar Episode 11 and 12 in One Paragraph

Shehryar and Diya are now married, and Sara has gone to Dubai to stay with a friend so that the new couple can have some space. Away from home, Sara feels detached and insecure, and she does not like how close Shehryar and Diya are becoming. Shehryar encourages Diya to go back to university, offers her his personal study space, drives her to class and buys her small gifts, while still saying that his bond with Sara is his first priority. Diya, for her part, begins to fall for her husband. In the background, the wider family keeps a smiling face, even though people like Mansoor and Samina carry their own stress.

1. Sara Goes to Dubai: Space or an Escape?

Sara goes to Dubai to give the new couple space, but she is not at peace

Sara leaves for Dubai with a very noble reason. She wants to give Shehryar and Diya some space, so that their marriage can start without her shadow over it.

On paper, it sounds like a mature and generous step. Many wives in her place would stay and watch every move. Sara chooses to leave.

But look at it from another angle. Is it really only for them? Or is it also a way to save herself from watching the very thing she arranged with her own hands? Probably both. Sometimes we call it “giving space” because the truth, “I cannot bear to watch,” is too painful to say aloud.

That is why Sara’s silence in these episodes feels so heavy. She is far away, but she is not at peace.

2. Sara’s Insecurity: A Pain She Did Not Plan For

Every small kindness Shehryar shows Diya starts to feel like something taken away from Sara

Here is the uncomfortable truth. Sara planned everything. She convinced Shehryar, she chose the bride and she organized the whole situation. And yet, she did not plan for how it would feel.

In Gulbahar episode 11 and 12, the insecurity starts to show. She does not like the interaction between Diya and Shehryar. Every small kindness he shows Diya feels like something taken away from her.

This is the part of the story that many women will relate to, in different forms. We tell ourselves we are okay with a decision, and then reality arrives with all its small details. Who sits where, who gets a call first, who gets a gift.

We cannot say Sara is wrong to feel this way. She is human. But we can see that she did not think this far when she said yes.

3. Diya Was Chosen as a Solution, Not Asked as a Person

This is the part of Gulbahar episode 11 and 12 that stays with us the most.

Sara chose Diya for what she thought were good reasons. Diya is naive. Diya has lost her parents. If she becomes Shehryar’s second wife, she will have a home and a secure future. It looked like kindness, and in her mind, it was.

But somewhere in this planning, Sara did not stop to think that Diya is also a full person. She has emotions, wishes and rights. She has the right to a real marriage, a real relationship with her husband and a real chance at happiness. She is not only a girl who needs shelter or a woman who can give a baby to the family.

When a girl is seen as naive, she is easily seen as someone who will not object. That is how many decisions in our society are made for women, even with good intentions. Nobody asks, “What do you want?” They say, “This is best for you.”

We are not saying Sara meant any harm. She did not. But good intentions do not cancel out the fact that Diya’s feelings were not part of the plan.

4. Shehryar’s Balancing Act: Driving, Gifts and a Study Room

From a study space to a new phone, Shehryar is trying hard to be fair to his second wife

Shehryar is trying very hard to be fair, and the episodes show it in small, clear steps.

He encourages Diya to go back to her university studies. He even offers her his personal study space, which is a big gesture, because it is a part of his own life he is sharing. He drives her to university. He buys her gifts.

At the same time, he insists that his bond with Sara remains his main focus.

Anyone who has seen a husband trying to treat two wives fairly knows how hard it is. In our society, a man who marries again is expected to be just to both. But justice is not only about money and time. It is also about attention, kindness and emotions. And emotions do not follow a schedule.

Here is the honest part: Shehryar is also falling for Diya. She is his wife too. When you drive someone to university every day, support her studies and buy her small gifts, it is natural that your heart will move. That is not betrayal. It is what a marriage does when both people are being kind to each other.

But it also means Sara’s fear is not imaginary.

5. Diya Is Falling for Her Husband, and That Is Her Right

Diya is not a background character in this story. She is a wife.

Slowly, she is beginning to fall for Shehryar. He is kind to her, he supports her education and he treats her with respect. For a girl who lost her parents and was turned away by relatives, this care must feel like a gift.

And it is her right. Nobody should tell Diya to keep her feelings small just because she is “the second wife.” She married him. She is allowed to love him, to want his time and to hope for a normal marriage.

This is why the situation is so tricky. Sara is hurting, and Diya is happy, and both feelings are valid. There is no villain here. There are just three people trying to live in a situation that was never going to be easy.

Sara Took the Step, Now She Should Show a Big Heart

Sara took the biggest step in this story. She agreed to her husband’s second marriage, and she chose the bride herself. The real test of Gulbahar episode 11 and 12 is not the decision. It is the aftermath.

A big heart does not mean pretending to feel nothing. Sara can be hurt, and she can feel insecure. These are real feelings, and nobody should shame her for them.

But a big heart does mean not punishing Diya for something she did not ask for. Diya did not take Sara’s place. Sara put her in a new place. If Sara’s insecurity turns into coldness toward Diya, then the very girl she wanted to protect will be hurt by her.

It also means Sara should be honest with Shehryar about her feelings, instead of running away to Dubai and carrying everything in silence. A conversation, even a painful one, is better than distance.

We also hope Shehryar does not hide behind the line “you are my first priority.” Priority is not enough. Sara needs reassurance, and Diya needs equal respect. That is a lot to ask from one man, but it is the price of the choice he agreed to.

Understanding Sara’s pain is not the same as asking Diya to accept coldness. Both women deserve kindness.

Acting and Writing in Gulbahar Episode 11 and 12

The writing is clever because it does not take sides. Sara is not shown as a jealous wife, Diya is not shown as a threat and Shehryar is not shown as a villain. Each of them has a reason for how they feel.

Sanam Saeed’s Sara is built on silence and restraint, and the episodes let that quiet pain speak. Emmad Irfani plays Shehryar as a man torn between his loyalty to his first wife and his growing bond with his second. Komal Meer gives Diya a softness that makes her feelings easy to believe.

Behind them, the wider family keeps up a smiling face, even though people like Mansoor and Samina carry their own money and personal stress. It reminds us that every home has worries hidden behind its smiles.

Why This Story Feels So Real in Pakistani Homes

You do not have to be in a second marriage to understand Gulbahar. Most of us have seen a woman making a hard decision “for the family,” and paying for it quietly.

We have also seen the girl who is married “for her own good,” without anyone asking how she feels. And we have seen the husband in the middle, saying he is trying his best.

That is why Gulbahar episode 11 and 12 hit home. The story is not about one right or wrong. It is about how many people can be hurt when decisions are made out of fear, pressure and good intentions.

What Comes Next

After Gulbahar episode 11 and 12, we have a few questions. Will Sara return from Dubai, and how will she face Diya? Will she find the big heart this situation asks for? And will Shehryar find a way to be fair to both wives without hurting either?
