Some couples fight, some tease, and some do both in the same scene. Zaryab and Abu Bakar are the third kind.

Dar e Nijat episode 22 and 23 give us the funniest and the most emotional moments of their marriage so far. One episode makes you smile, and the next one makes you think about how much hurt a person can carry.

Dar e Nijat is already one of the most loved dramas on Pakistani television, and these two episodes show why. Here is our review, with the scenes that stayed with us.

Dar e Nijat Episode 22 and 23 in One Paragraph

In episode 22, Abu Bakar finally comes back, and Zaryab, who is staying in Hyderabad with her mother in law, is waiting for him without admitting it. Their husband and wife banter finally entertains the audience, until Zaryab ends it with a fight, as usual. In episode 23, a Quranic ayat about hidayat on her phone wallpaper turns into a big argument. Zaryab accuses Abu Bakar of thinking she is gumrah and tells him she hates him from the core of her heart. The next morning, Abu Bakar quietly removes the wallpaper and says sorry if she took his intentions the wrong way, and something inside Zaryab begins to change.

1. Abu Bakar Is Back, and So Is the Banter

As usual, the sweet banter ends with Zaryab picking a fight

Fans had waited a long time for this. Every time Zaryab and Abu Bakar got close to a sweet moment, it ended in a fight. This time, the sweetness stayed a little longer.

Abu Bakar keeps teasing her. He pushes her to say what she feels and to admit that she missed him, the way a husband does when he already knows the answer. Some viewers even call it rage baiting, because he knows exactly which button to press. He says “exactly” with such calmness that many people laughed out loud.

Zaryab tries to act annoyed, but her face tells another story. It is the kind of banter that feels very real. Anyone who has a husband, a brother or a friend who loves to tease knows how it works. You pretend to be angry, and the other person pretends not to notice.

Viewers loved it. Many said the whole nation was blushing, and many noticed what the scene was really showing: Zaryab had been waiting for him.

2. Zaryab Was Waiting, Even If She Won’t Say It

Zaryab Pretends Not to Care

Look closely at how Zaryab behaves, and you will see it.

She is living in Hyderabad with her mother in law. She keeps herself busy, and she hardly talks about Abu Bakar. But the moment he returns, her mood changes. She argues, she teases back, and she pretends she was not waiting.

This is what makes her so human. Zamil hurt her badly, so she is afraid to name what she feels. It is easier to say “I am annoyed with you” than to say “I am glad you came back.”

Abu Bakar understands this, and that is why he never pushes too far. He teases her just enough to make her smile, and then he gives her space.

3. The Wallpaper Fight in Dar e Nijat Episode 22 and 23

Zaryab believes Abu Bakar thinks she is gumrah, and the fight gets painful

Then comes the biggest fight of Dar e Nijat episode 22 and 23.

In episode 23, Zaryab notices a Quranic ayat about hidayat, or guidance, on the wallpaper of her phone. Instead of seeing it as a gentle reminder, she takes it as a message. She believes Abu Bakar thinks she is gumrah, someone who has lost her way.

She does not hold back. She fights with him for a long time, and each line is harsher than the last. That is how real fights work. You say hurtful things to see whether the other person will leave. Finally, she says the harshest line of the drama so far: she hates him from the core of her heart.

It is hard to watch because Abu Bakar has done nothing but stay patient. But it is also easy to understand. Zaryab is not really fighting about a wallpaper. She is fighting about every time she was told, in one way or another, that she was not good enough.

4. The Morning After: A Quiet Sorry

Abu Bakar removes the wallpaper and says sorry, choosing peace over being right

The best scene of the episode is not the fight. It is the morning after.

Abu Bakar quietly removes the wallpaper from her phone. He does not give a long speech, and he does not defend himself. He says sorry if she took his intentions the wrong way.

Think about how rare that is. He did not say “you misunderstood me.” He did not say “I did nothing wrong.” He simply chose peace over being right, and he said it gently.

And Zaryab feels it. Something inside her shifts. She realizes that she was too harsh, and that the man in front of her is not trying to judge her. He is trying to be careful.

This is the kind of moment Umera Ahmed writes so well. Nothing dramatic happens, but everything changes.

5. Two Men, Two Ways of Loving

Zamil and Abu Bakar side by side showing how differently they treat Zaryab in Dar e Nijat
One man used faith as judgment. The other uses it as patience

After the apology, Zaryab starts remembering her past with Zamil. She remembers how he treated her, how he shouted at her, and how he told her that because of her, he was drawn toward sin.

Think about the difference. Zamil made her responsible for his mistakes. He blamed her for his weakness and used religion as a weapon against her. When he wanted something, he asked her for time and pushed her until she felt cornered. Abu Bakar, on the other hand, removes a wallpaper the moment he sees that it hurts her, and the only thing he asks for is peace.

This is the heart of the drama. One man turned faith into judgment. The other turns it into patience. And Zaryab, who is not ready to admit it, is slowly seeing the difference.

Every time she fights with Abu Bakar, he ends up winning her heart without even trying. She has not confessed it yet. But we all know.

Acting and Writing in Dar e Nijat Episode 22 and 23

Dure Fishan does a very difficult thing in these episodes. She has to play anger and affection at the same time, and she has to make us believe both. In the banter scenes, you can see her trying not to smile. In the wallpaper fight, you can see the old pain behind her words.

Shehryar Munawar, as Abu Bakar, keeps the character calm without making him boring. His teasing is light, and his apology is simple. That balance is why viewers keep falling for the character.

The writing also deserves credit. Umera Ahmed uses small things, like a wallpaper or a single word, to carry big emotions. The banter and the fight look like opposites, but they come from the same place: a woman who is afraid to trust again.

The Reason Behind Zaryab’s Anger

Let’s be honest. We cannot justify what Zaryab said to Abu Bakar. Telling a patient man that you hate him from the core of your heart is not fair, and Abu Bakar did not deserve it.

But we can understand where it comes from.

When a person has been judged for their past, even a kind reminder can sound like an accusation. Zamil spent a long time telling Zaryab that she was not pious enough and not worthy. So when she sees an ayat about guidance, her mind does not hear love. It hears Zamil’s voice. That is the reason behind her anger in Dar e Nijat episode 22 and 23: not hatred for Abu Bakar, but fear of being judged again.

Understanding is not the same as excusing. Both things can be true. Zaryab was wrong to say it, and Zaryab was hurt long before Abu Bakar came into her life.

Most of us know someone like this. A friend or a cousin who gets upset about small things, because the real hurt is old. The best response is not to argue. It is to do what Abu Bakar did: stay calm, say sorry gently and let time do its work.

Where Dar e Nijat Is Heading

After Dar e Nijat episode 22 and 23, we are curious about one thing. When will Zaryab say it out loud?

She has started to feel it. She has started to compare. And she has started to see that Abu Bakar is not like Zamil. What is left is the confession, and with Umera Ahmed writing, we know it will not come easily.

We also keep wondering about Zamil, who is never far from this story. How will his shadow affect the way Zaryab sees her new life?
